Manhunt

Real-life hide and seek and tag with your friends

Everyone in your group shows up live on the map. Draw the play area, pick seekers and hiders, start the clock, and go. Catches, alerts, and the group chat all happen in the app.

Free on iPhone and Android. Manhunt Pro is an optional upgrade.

The Manhunt map during a game: players inside a red play area in Midtown Manhattan, with 3 hiders left and a list of players with their street and elevation.

Your whole group on one map

Share your location with the groups you choose, and see theirs in return. It is the board the game is played on, in flat or 3D view.

  • Everyone in your group, live

Each player shows up on the map with their profile picture and moves as they do, so you always know who is where.

  • Groups you keep

Make a group, share the invite code, and play with the same friends next time. Owners and admins set the rules, zones, and timers for everyone.

  • Bluetooth proximity

GPS can be off between buildings. When Manhunt hears a group member's phone over Bluetooth, the top of the map tells you how close they are: right next to you, within 30 ft, or within 100 ft.

  • Nearby alertsPro

Get a notification when someone from your groups is detected nearby, or when a seeker comes within a distance you choose, before they reach you.

  • Address and elevation

The player list shows the street each person is on and how high up they are, so you can tell when someone is hiding a few floors up.

How a game runs

Games are played inside a group. An owner or admin sets it up once, and everyone plays by the same rules.

  1. Pick seekers and hiders

Every group plays Manhunt / Tag. Players are seekers or hiders, and the map shows how many hiders are left.

  2. Set the rules and the clock

Write the group's rules or link to them, set when the game starts, and run a game timer so everyone knows how long is left. Blocked hours mark the times the game is off.

  3. Catch, confirm, repeat

A seeker tags a hider in the app and the hider confirms the catch. Game alerts tell the group about catches and when hiders are out.

  • Tag seekers back

Let hiders tag a seeker. Once the seeker confirms, they are frozen for as many minutes as you set.

  • Reveal the last hiders

When only a few hiders are left, they show on the map at their exact location until the game ends, so it doesn't drag on.

  • Anonymous messages

Let seekers and hiders message each other without saying who sent it.

Play safe. Only play with people you know, keep the game out of traffic and off private property, and never use the app while driving.

Creating a zone in Manhunt: four points dragged on the map form a red polygon over Midtown Manhattan, with Polygon and Circle options.

Zones you draw

Keep the game to a few blocks, a park, or a whole neighborhood. Zones are shared with everyone in the group and drawn right on the map.

  • Draw the play area

Tap the map to place a circle or the points of a polygon, name the zone, and save it for the whole group.

  • Capture and safe zones

Mark where the game happens and where hiders are safe. Players can also have a personal safe zone when the group allows it.

  • Moving and shrinking zonesPro

Have a zone travel from one point to another, or close in over a set number of minutes.

Abilities and drops

Give players something to go after besides each other.

  • Abilities

Players can use abilities during a game, like an immunity shield. Group admins turn them on in the Rules tab.

  • Ability drops

Owners and admins place ability drops on the map, and players race to claim them. Everyone gets a notification when one goes live.

Group chat built in

Every group has its own chat, so planning, trash talk, and proof of the catch stay in one place.

  • Photos and videos

Send pictures and clips to the group straight from the chat.

  • Voice memos

Record and send in a tap. Voice memos play back with a waveform.

  • Stickers and polls

Drop a sticker, or start a poll when the group can't agree on where to play.

  • Notifications that show who

Notifications show the sender's profile picture, so you can tell who it is from the lock screen.

Manhunt Pro

The game is free to play. Pro adds more detail on the map and more control over zones. Some group features need a group owner or admin with Pro, and then they work for the whole group.

  • Location historySee where players have been, not just where they are now.
  • Speed and directionKnow how fast someone is moving and which way.
  • Moving and shrinking zonesZones that travel across the map or close in over time.
  • More zonesSeveral shared zones per group, in custom colors, with alerts when players enter or leave.
  • Custom location delayChoose how often the map updates for your group.
  • Nearby and hunter-nearby alertsNotifications when group members are detected nearby or a seeker gets close.
  • Abilities and relative locationSpecial abilities in games, and showing a radius instead of your exact pin.
  • Your look in each groupA custom name and icon per group, plus a battery indicator.
